The birds are packed in a protective atmosphere in the box — “the modern way” — so you don’t have to worry about it. You will receive your turkey on the 22nd/23rd of December and should store it somewhere cool and dry.
Our Bronze Turkeys sourced from a reputable supplier who pride themselves on the conservation of native, slow-growing turkeys. The turkeys arrive on the farm days-old on the 2nd July every year, two months earlier than a commercial turkey would’ve been born.
We brood them indoors until the poults are around six weeks old and no longer need additional warmth. They are then moved outdoors. Gradually, over the course of a week or two, the birds venture outside and learn to forage in the orchards and fields, scratching about under hedgerows and eating berries and plants that take their fancy. By allowing the birds to run free, you know your turkey has had the best life it possibly can.
This, alongside the fact that our birds are approximately two months older than your normal, super-fast-growing, white supermarket turkey and the fact that we dry-pluck and hang the birds for around seven days, ensures that your turkey is a superior centrepiece for your dinner table this Christmas.

The Little Things That Make A Big Difference
Free Range
Our birds are free to roam and forage, enjoying a varied diet that includes plenty of apples. This natural approach enhances their flavour, adding depth and richness to every bite, as well as better, more natural muscle development than your standard factory-farmed bird.
All Hen Turkeys
We exclusively raise female turkeys, known for their superior, more succulent meat quality. This guarantees a more tender, succulent, and flavoursome bird for your Christmas feast.
Geese are males and females; if you order a big goose, it’s probably a male.
Male turkeys are sold to Poland as chicks by our supplier. A male turkey is about twice as big as a female and cheaper, making them perfect for larger Polish families on a tighter budget.
Well Fed
Quality food starts with quality feed. We source our poultry feed from a local independent feed merchant and nutritionist, supporting local businesses while ensuring our birds receive the best diet. Combined with natural foraging, this approach results in exceptional taste and texture.
Dry Plucked
Unlike supermarket birds, our turkeys and geese are dry plucked, a traditional technique that preserves the skin, preventing the meat from turning dry in the oven as the moisture can’t escape.
With modern plucking methods, birds are submerged in hot water, meaning they cannot be hung. All our birds are hung, allowing them to mature, enhancing the quality and flavour of the meat. This method of plucking also preserves the skin, giving you the perfect golden finish when cooked—just as a Christmas bird should be.
Why not try Goose?
If you’re bored of dry turkey you should try one of our juicy turkeys or sample a goose, you may never go back. Goose is a more traditional Christmas dinner than turkey with much richer meat and high quality fat; perfect for roast potatoes.
Until the 16th century, goose was the traditional Christmas bird, as it was cheap and thrived on grass, unlike grain-dependent turkeys. Goslings were ferried from Ireland and walked to market in Carlisle.
As grain became more available, turkey production increased, making it the cheaper option. Since geese aren't suited to factory farming, a goose remains the best choice for a truly traditional Christmas dinner.
